Mount Adams stands 37 miles (60 km) east of Mount St. Helens and about 50 miles (80 km) south of Mount Rainier. It is 30 miles (48 km) north of the Columbia River and 55 miles (89 km) north of Mount Hood in Oregon. The nearest major cities are Yakima, 50 miles (80 km) to the northeast, and the Portland metropolitan area, 60 miles (97 km) to the southwest. Between half and two-thirds of Adams is within the Mount Adams Wilderness of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The remaining area is within the Mount Adams Recreation Area of the Yakama Indian Reservation. While many of the volcanic peaks in Oregon are located on the Cascade Crest, Adams is the only active volcano in Washington to do so. It is farther east than all the rest of Washington's volcanoes except Glacier Peak.

What: Three-day hike up Mount Adams in New Hampshire.
When: We will leave Cornwall around 5:00 am on Sunday, February 16th and returning Tuesday, February 18th.
Stay: On day one, we will hike up to Gray Knob Lodge where we will sleep two nights. (For those of you who want/need to leave a day early, you can just hike out on day two.)
Hike: On day two, we will climb up and down Mount Adams via Lowe's Path Trail.
*Extra notes: We will only need to bring clothes, a sleeping bag, a floor mat, and some food. We will have full access to the lodge's kitchen. A fire will be going during the day. However, expect very cold temperatures during the night and at any given time. Feel free to bring whatever gear you might need/want "just in case".
**The drive there is approximately 4.5hours from Cornwall. You will be required a valid passport or advanced driver's license. The "White Mountains" can be very windy due to exposure and lack of trees.
Please feel free to get more info on the lodge bellow. This is a fist come first serve basis that can sleep up to 15 people. You WILL need cash on hand (25$ per night US currency.) I am not worried about the vacancy. We will be arriving as people are leaving. Plus we always have equal chance as everyone else to get a "spot on the floor" ;)
